Garden Homes has chosen not to limit our homeowners
to a Design Center for selections and options.
Excerpts from: Gullo, Gina and Rinaldi, Angela. Option Selling for Profit: The Builders Guide to Generating Design Center Revenue and Profit. NAHB 2009
  • Option Selling is arguably the most important profit opportunity in home building today. Therefore, the design center is a critical component and an essential tool for raising profit.
  • Fulton Homes of Tempe, Arizona, increased option sales by 33% in one year by using a Design Center.
  • Winmark Homes in Swannee, Georgia: “We love the design Center concept. In a two year period, option revenue increased by 30%. With option choices, our customers feel like they are building a custom home even though we are a production builder and they purchased a production house. They feel good about that.”
  • The Design Center concept on one-stop shopping for options and upgrades is designed to boost business. A well-run Design Center can generate profit that exceeds builders’ expectations.
Garden Homes offers every selection available

The one-stop shopping idea is done under the guise of saving clients the time of driving from showroom to showroom selecting items. In actuality it saves a builder the time to help their client find the features they want and value.

A Design Center gives the allusion of many options, when in reality it has a very limited selection. Usually there is only one vendor for each product type. At our vendor showrooms their staff is very knowledgeable about the features and quality levels of products offered.

When considering the time it takes to go to different showrooms, compared to the amount of time the client is going to enjoy their new home, Garden Homes should not think of limiting our clients to a Design Center.

At Garden Homes our new home consultants are dedicated to helping the client purchase only items they value. It’s all about what the customer values, not what the builder pre-conceived as value.
