ELKHART – Dover Trace, just off Country Road 4 in Elkhart, is characterized as quiet and family oriented at the same time by residents.
Ann Barker, who’s lived at Dover Trace for nearly two yeas called the area where she lives in the subdivision “kid’s corner” because of the young families with small children.
“It’s a lot of fun,” she said. She and her husband have a two year old and a newborn. “It’s safe,” she said. “We’re fine letting our daughter play out front. And it’s very low key. There’s no loud music and no fast cars.”
While Barker likes that the subdivision is family oriented, Mrs. Edwin Yoder said that the subdivision is quiet. She and her husband are retired and like that it’s quiet for them.
“There are very few little kids making noise,” she added.

Marv Rach, who’s lived at Dover Trace since 2004, likes how quiet it is, too, though he acknowledged that many young families live there.
Apart from that, Rach said he likes that the lots are larger and that residents keep them looking nice.
He said he moved to Dover Trace from Chicago to be closer to his grandchildren, and living there has worked out well for him.
Location was on the mind of the Barkers when they moved to Dover Trace as well.
They moved from Niles, she said, because the subdivision is situated halfway between where she works and where her husband works.
The couple decided they wanted to build a home, and a friend recommended Garden Homes. She said she’s been pleased with their choice of home and the lot on which it sits.

The field behind their home is empty at the moment, and she said she hopes it remains empty.
And despite the subdivision’s proximity to the Toll Road, Barker emphasized how quiet Dover Trace is.
“And it’s very friendly,” she added.
